EXHIBITIONS WATERLAND PHOTO GALLERY
Ton Aartsen
"SELF-IMAGE IN MULTIPLE OF THREE", nudes, artificial landscapes and cityscapes.
By means of his nudes Ton Aartsen shows his own eroticism. For him eroticism is a fixating and consciousness lowering experience. Things outside the erotic image are not being noticed consciously in an increasing way. The gum prints with integrated texts are "two of a kind". The same experience and the same feeling but in two different ways of expression.
Landscapes designed, constructed and maintained by people. The regulation and the urge to dominate result in fascinating, impressive and beautiful images. By using gum print technique, manipulation of image and colour create e new, personalised image language.
The cityscapes are fascinations of two different phenomenon's, architecture and people. These live together but often pass each other. The human being as an accidental passer-by of architecture. Architecture, a passive lifespan in a servant position to mankind.
This exhibition has been opened by photographer Peter Ruting.
