TON AARTSEN
When Ton Aartsen started his career as a professional photographer in 1972, he aimed for the production of images with a maximum in sharpness and technical perfection.
Nowadays however he tries to abstract from this directness by using rare techniques such as gum prints, blueprint, emulsion prints on watercolour paper and digital applications. He is clearly working towards the production of images in which he can express his personal feelings and a certain atmosphere rather than the images which show the finest detail. His subjects are those which surprise or touch him. All techniques used are secondary to the subject and feeling of the image.
His work shows mainly images of nudes, manmade landscapes and city life.
