HANS BOTTELIER

Hans Bottelier was born at Rotterdam and spent his childhood at the coast of Oostvoorne in the southwest of Holland.
He graduated from the Graphic School Utrecht and among his teachers were Jos Houweling and Ata Kando. After more studies at the Academy of Rotterdam and St. Joost at Breda he settled as a technical photographer at Rotterdam. Later he moved to Uitdam and now works as a freelance designer and photographer. Apart from that he also designs websites for major companies.
He receives commissions from building developers, travel agencies, trade and commercial magazines, VNU Amsterdam and the councils of Beverwijk and Amsterdam. In his autonomic work he takes pictures in situations which are not directed nor styled, just with the available light, not searching but encountering, always on the road with his camera at close reach.
