MANFRED WIRTZ
Manfred Wirtz specializes in documentary photography.
He works for press agencies, photo stock companies and international magazines. His images are mostly related to the former east block countries such as Poland, Russia, the Baltic states, Hungary, Slovenia and Rumania.
In 2005 this resulted in the publishing of his
book 'Village in the Carpaths', His photographs have been exhibited at the Fotofestival Naarden, Herford (England), Köln en Dresden (Germany), Luxemburg, Brussels (Belgium), Lorient (France) and in the Waterland Photo Gallery at Broek in Waterland (2006). For his photo series about Romania Wirtz received "The award for the best photographs' in 'The Transylvania Photo Exhibition" in 2007. It was awarded to him by the Romanian Cultural Institute during the events at Sibiu (Rumania), Cultural Capital of Europe.
Closer to home he produced photo series about the Belgian carnival traditions and published the photo book "Old crafts".
Wirtz prefers working with traditional photography techniques without digital manipulation but with the analogue handprints and barite prints.
